mobilePeople launches “Who is calling” feature
Eniro’s customers in Norway now instantly see the name behind the number Copenhagen, London, Denver 13 May 2008 – Eniro, Norway’s leading search company, today announced the launch of its downloadable, Java based, mobile search service developed in conjunction with mobilePeople. The service provides easy to use mobile search functionality for the Norwegian mobile user including a “Who is calling” feature and mobilePeople’s “liquid Map” solution.
The “Who is calling” feature automatically checks if a name is attached to the number in the user’s local phonebook. If there is no entry in the phone a real-time reverse look-up is performed using Eniro’s phonebook databases. While the phone rings the identity behind the unknown number (person or business) is displayed on the phone screen. Knowing the identity of the caller means it is far easier for the called party to be prepared for the incoming call. There is then the option to save the name and number to the phone book.
The “liquid Map” solution provides the option to display the results of businesses or people on a fully realised map which can be zoomed and panned. mobilePeople utilizes Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) which is superior to other map technologies as the map is handled inside the phone, is much faster and incurs less traffic cost for the user.
Tommi Larsen, Mobile Director, Eniro Norge AS commented on the launch: “We aim to provide the best mobile search opportunities for businesses and consumers who need to find each other easily. Now our offering is even more relevant to the user, providing details of businesses they want specific to their geographical location, all thanks to the map function. What could be simpler, you need a dentist in your area quickly, search on Eniro mobile and a map directing you to the closest is at your fingertips.”
Jens Andersen, CEO and co-founder of mobilePeople said: “More and more mobile users are experiencing the benefits of search on the move. Norway is one of the most advanced mobile markets in Europe and as such the opportunities are huge. Eniro is an extremely forward thinking company which has realised these opportunities. The scope for monetisation is huge and everyone benefits, from the mobile user, through local businesses to the search directories themselves.”
