Copenhagen/London, 2 February 2007

Out of all mobile searches executed across Europe within the last month; just under half of them were conducted on Sony Ericsson handsets at 49%. Nokia devices were used for 37% of searches and Samsung came in third with 14%.

In terms of specific mobile devices; the most popular Sony Ericsson handset for mobile searches is the K750i, for Nokia it’s the 6230i and for Samsung the SGH-D600. The findings which are based on data obtained from mobilePeople’s European customer base show that the most popular handsets with mobile searchers are pretty much ‘mass-market’ devices opposed to ‘higher-end’ handsets as one may have expected.

Jens Andersen, CEO and co-founder of mobilePeople commented: “We are particularly aware of the fact that it is all about serving the mobile mass market because ultimately only a superior user experience for the mass market will drive traffic and create an attractive new channel for the advertising industry. Our mobile search solution liquidTM supports all types of devices from the simplest to the most advanced.”

He concluded: “Our data affirms that the overall mobile user experience is driven by a combination of the applications installed on the device and the phone’s integral functionality and design.”
