Sesam, powered by mobilePeople, adjuged ’Best Mobile Search Engine’
Norway’s number one mobile search engine Sesam trounces opposition, including Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft Live to win big

Copenhagen/ London, 21 June 2007 – The combination of Norway’s number one mobile search engine Sesam and white label mobile search company mobilePeople has been recognised as "Best Mobile Search Engine" in Norway’s leading online mobile magazine amobil.

amobil tested the services of Sesam (wap.sesam.no) against competitors including Google, Microsoft Live, Kvasir and Yahoo. The key criteria were ease of use, content and relevancy of results to users. Sesam came out on top thanks to the fact that it only crawls WAP sites, ensuring that the user does not have to waste time trawling through incompatible sites on the smaller mobile phone screen.

mobilePeople delivers the intuitive WAP based solution for Sesam so that mobile users can access specific content including yellow and white pages, mobile internet, local news, weather information and images which ranked particularly high in the test.

“We knew we had a great solution and our mobile users agree. So it’s fantastic that we have now been recognised by the industry as well! In addition winning the best mobile search service in Norway, against the likes of Google is even more gratifying” said Bjørn Tveiten, Head of Mobile Search at Schibsted Søk. “The WAP service powered by mobilePeople was integral to this prestigious win.”

Launched in 2005, Sesam has quickly become a top mobile web destination for mobile users in Norway. It currently enables in excess of 30,000 mobile searches a day and helps 150,000 users a month find the information they are searching for on the move.

Jens Andersen, CEO and co-founder of mobilePeople commented: “In the rapidly expanding world of mobile search, awards such as these show that there is stiff competition for the mobile user’s attention. Winning “best in test” highlights that Sesam and mobilePeople are leading the way in terms of offering and functionality. We believe that by offering more to access companies will massively drive user loyalty and repeat searches.”

mobilePeople has recently also launched suchen.de mobile as client based mobile search solution in Germany. Suchen.de is run by t-info, which is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom.
